What is DMECH?

DMECH stands for Digital MECHanic. That's me, the Digital Mechanic. So what is this website? Well for the most part, it's my digital scratch pad. Or doodle pad. And even sometimes, my mental meanderings pad. So why are you here? Beats the fuck outta me. But since you've read this far, you might as well get the whole story (assuming you want to read any further).

DMECH.org started out life as my testing domain for new Internet technologies. Anything from that neat new scripting language, to a new graphics program I picked up, to yet another server-side Internet programming solution. It has since grown into a meeting place for some friends, knowledge seekers and the generally curious. We're really informal here, so let your hair down and enjoy.

As a digital doodle pad, this site contains many incongruous technologies. If something seems out of place, or just added for addition sake, it's because it is. Many of the items on this website are just code testing, in a background setting of my general preferences, opinions and hobbies. There isn't much rhyme or reason to it other than to extend my knowledge of Internet technologies and an attempt to entertain (albeit badly).

What is a Digital Mechanic?

Well, there are some people in the tech community who wake up in the morning, grab a bowl of Fruit Loops, a cup of coffee and write out a new programming language before heading off to do whatever it is that they do to occupy their lives. Think of these people as geniuses. Or just really smart, dedicated, and altogether lacking some form of even remotely resembling a life, people. I ain't one of them. I'm the guy who takes said new programming language (or program, or application, or script, etc ...) and puts it to realistic use on the Internet. I'm not the guy who schemed e-commerce. I'm the guy who makes it work. As such, I like to think of myself as less of an engineer type but rather something resembling your car mechanic .... errrr .... if your car was on the Internet.

Is there anything else to the name DMECH?

Sort of. Dmech is one of my online names. Think of it as a sort of CB handle that I go by on the Internet. My other popular Internet handle is Kruunch. From various BBSs, message boards and online games, those names are often associated with me. Why do you need to know this? No clue. Other then I'm one of the few people who doesn't like the total anonymity of the Internet. So now you know how to track me across the Net.
